Investigations opened
Australia moderately enforces against foreign bribery. The country, which makes up 1.3 per cent of global exports, opened 14 investigations and three cases of foreign bribery from 2016 until 2019. However, it only concluded three cases with sanctions during that time.
Australia does not publish statistics on foreign bribery investigations, prosecutions or case outcomes and has no central register for beneficial ownership information, despite government promises.
