Annual Report 2025

In 2025, Transparency International pursued its mission to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity at all levels and across all sectors of society. Through our research, we exposed the systems and networks that enable corruption to thrive and harm people’s lives. We developed best practice anti-corruption standards and carried out advocacy and campaigns to push for them to be adopted – and demanded greater transparency and integrity in all areas of public life.

Here are some ways Transparency International contributed to real world change in 2025 to hold power to account for the common good:

- We helped create ground-breaking global standards for integrity in money in politics.

- We successfully pushed governments at the Financing for Development summit to make anti-corruption a cross-cutting priority.

- We played a key role over many years that led to the EU finally banning golden passport schemes.

- We persuaded UN climate chiefs to tighten up conflict of interest rules, helping prevent the fossil fuel lobby from slowing down ambitious action.

- We helped secure two wins in an important piece of EU anti-corruption legislation to strengthen justice.

- We spoke out to defend civil society from attacks in countries and to support people’s right to safely protest against.

In this annual report, we describe Transparency International’s contribution to drive forward six of the strategic objectives outlined in our 2030 Strategy, which sets out how the Transparency International movement aims to contribute to a more positive future; a world in which power is held to account, for the common good.

- Protect the public’s resources

- Stop the flow of dirty money

- Secure integrity in politics

- Drive integrity in business

- Pursue enforcement and justice

- Expand civic space for accountability
