10 photos of corruption-busting around the world

Whether it’s demonstrating outside parliament in Indonesia, performing at a public rally in Lebanon, or speaking to rural farmers in Madagascar, our efforts to tackle corruption around the world take many forms.

Here are 10 photos showing Transparency International in action:

We organise a boat rally in Bangladesh to mark World Water Day and protest industrial waste dumping in the country’s rivers, which authorities have been slow to act on.

In India, we visit several districts to speak to the public about government welfare schemes in the area and give citizens an opportunity to ask questions about them – in the presence of officers and politicians.

Here we’re demonstrating in Indonesia against the 2014 Regional Elections Bill, which called for direct elections to become indirect ones. Protesters wear face masks depicting politicians who were supporting the Bill. © Transparency International Indonesia

One of our officers in Kenya explains the corruption hotline service offered to citizens so they can report complaints and feedback about aid and service delivery.

In Lebanon, we raise the public’s awareness of bribery in the Beirut Souks. These two clowns perform skits to highlight bribery issues to the audience.

Here, we speak to a farmer in Madagascar as part of an initiative to survey rural citizens’ perceptions of corruption in the country.

In Rwanda, a citizen tells her corruption complaint to our advice centre during one of our outreach events.

At the launch of our sticker campaign in Sri Lanka, citizens take a stand and commit to end corruption.

In Ukraine we call for anti-corruption laws that will promote disclosure of officials’ assets and resolve conflict of interests. Thanks to much public pressure, the parliament approves them.

In Yemen we host an event to distribute story books to raise children’s awareness of corruption and the ways to fight it.
