Belgium
Belgium demonstrates little or no enforcement against companies bribing abroad. Although Belgium accounts for 1.8 per cent of global exports, it only opened 5 investigations and no cases between 2016 until 2019 and failed to conclude any cases with sanctions.
In addition, Belgium has not enacted any relevant new corruption legislation since 2018 despite inadequacies, and its federal police, especially the department tasked with anti-corruption, lacks resources and is significantly understaffed.
