Media advisory: G7 Leaders’ Summit press briefing – Tracking illicit Russian wealth

Transparency International and Transparency Germany will hold a virtual press briefing ahead of the G7 Leaders’ Summit on Tuesday, 21 June 2022 at 4:00 CET. The briefing will call attention to actions G7 governments must take to stop the flow of dirty money. Register here.

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in February 2022 ignited a reckoning over the serious loopholes and transparency gaps that have allowed kleptocrats from Russia to secretly store assets across G7 countries for decades. Early on, G7 leaders made strong pledges to sanction and track the illicit wealth of Russian elites. Transparency International will highlight persistent problems that undercut efforts to trace and eventually confiscate suspect assets.
