National Integrity System Assessment Libya 2014

This report presents the National Integrity System assessment of Libya based on research undertaken between April 2014 and November 2014. It is the first of its kind in Libya, a country in a phase of transformation at all levels of the political landscape since the revolution in 2011. The study describes the status of the Libyan National Integrity System during April – November 2014. Significant turmoil erupted in May 2014 and increased following the parliamentary election in June 2014 with armed groups fighting for control of the capital and other areas of Libya. Libya faces a serious risk of territorial disintegration, where Islamists control the west and Benghazi, and the more liberal government asserts its control in the far east, supported by armed federalists. Various regions are considering breaking away from Libya and the security situation is in a very poor state.
