Denmark

Limited Enforcement level
10 Investigations opened

Denmark demonstrates limited enforcement against companies bribing abroad. Denmark makes up 0.8 per cent of global exports, and although it pursued 10 investigations from 2016 to 2019, no cases of foreign bribery were either initiated or concluded during this period.

Denmark is one of six countries that improved in enforcement since our last report.

However, Danish anti-bribery legislation still does not cover trading in influence, its foreign bribery legislation does not extend to Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and the country’s laws, pending the transposition of an EU directive on the topic, do not adequately protect whistleblowers.
