TIPNG says killing of prominant business man is senseless

TIPNG deeply regrets and condemns the mindless killing of prominent businessman Sir George Constantinou by criminal elements next to the Tete settlement in Gerehu, Port Moresby.

TIPNG Chairman Peter Aitsi said, “It is very sad and shocking to lose an iconic figure like Sir George who had worked very hard and contributed to the physical and human resource development of this country through participation of his many companies.” He said Sir George was also a very passionate supporter of TIPNG’s anti corruption activities and was a good corporate member of TIPNG through his companies over the past years.

TIPNG is well aware and thankful that Sir George supported charitable organisations and numerous Papua New Guineans from all walks of life who benefited from his generosity. While the reasons for the killing are yet to be established and known it is shameful to lose someone and TIPNG deplores the horrific manner in which he was murdered especially one who has contributed immensely to the development of this country which he furthermore claimed as his own.

Mr Aitsi on behalf of the board, management and staff of TIPNG expressed deep regret and offered profound condolences to the immediate family and relatives of the late Sir George Constantinou.
