Patricia Moreira appointed Managing Director of Transparency International

Transparency International’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Moreira as Managing Director of the International Secretariat, based in Berlin, Germany. She will start her new role on 1 October.

“We are excited that Patricia has accepted the role of Managing Director. Based on her strong management experience and her passionate drive for social justice, the Board is fully confident she is the right person to lead the Secretariat,” said José Ugaz, Chair of Transparency International.

Moreira is Spanish-Brazilian and has worked for more than a decade promoting social impact and innovation in a global environment. For the past 13 years she worked at Ayuda en Acción, a Spanish aid organisation operating in 20 countries around the world. She was appointed the organisation’s CEO in 2009 heading a team of around 100 people at headquarters and more than 300 in the field.

Prior to this, Moreira worked as an international management consultant for ten years with a focus on technology, innovation and impact. She holds an MBA from INSEAD, France and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has done PhD research in Social Entrepreneurship at ICADE University in Madrid.

“I am honoured to take on this position at such a crucial time for the anti-corruption movement. Our work is needed more than ever. As the leading global anti-corruption movement, Transparency International will hold the corrupt to account, stop impunity for corruption and ensure that corruption does not blight the lives of the most vulnerable,” said Patricia Moreira.
