Important correction concerning FIFA candidates by Transparency International

Transparency International, the global anti-corruption movement, has not commented on the merits or otherwise of individuals who may or may not be candidates for the presidency of FIFA, world football’s governing body.

We expect full disclosure from all candidates, and the detail of their programmes to address corruption and governance issues at FIFA.

Our focus is on the nature of the election process and the reforms needed to ensure that corruption and bribery are rooted out of FIFA.

These reforms include the swift introduction of strong anti-corruption programmes at both the international, regional and national levels, greater transparency in the financial relationships between FIFA and its members, and strong independent oversight at the executive committee level.
