Worldwide “One Billion Rising” against domestic violence a success in Vanuatu despite heavy rainfall!
Transparency Vanuatu Youth, Youth Challenge and Wan Smol Bag were all involved in the recent “One Billion Rising”.
ONE BILLION RISING was a global event where ONE BILLION women and those who love them were asked to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to violence against Women. ONE BILLION RISING was expected to move the earth, activating women, and men, across every country.
The young people of the organisations noted above were using their talents and time to make more people aware of the need to have ZERO TOLERANCE to violence against women.
The youths who participated joined high profile supporters, civic leaders, celebrities and a wide range of grassroots and global organisations around the world when they DANCED.
“Break the chain” was a song written specifically for this worldwide day, not just to highlight domestic violence, but to give hope to the millions of women and girls who suffer from it. Some of the words are:

Dance cause I dream
Dance cause I’ve had enough
Dance to stop the screams
Dance to break the rules
Dance to stop the pain
Dance to turn it upside down

All demonstrations and actions that bring attention to ZERO TOLERANCE to violence against women are welcome and should be supported. Transparency supports such events and move-ments because international reports have shown conclusively that those most affected by corruption around the world are society’s weakest members, namely women and children.
