Contrario a lo que dice una frase coloquial, la corrupción no está en nuestros genes. La mecánica de la corrupción funciona exactamente igual en México que en África subsahariana o en el norte de Europa o en cualquier parte del mundo.

Alguien —persona o empresa—, abusa de la confianza depositada por un grupo o comunidad para obtener un beneficio personal o privado. Quien corrompe traiciona el interés público, traiciona a los accionistas y socios de una empresa; traiciona a los agremiados en un sindicato. 

Me parece que las diferencias entre países no radican en las causas de la corrupción, sino en la eficacia de las instituciones que han sido creadas para combatirla.
