# Speaking Up Locally, Driving Change Globally: True Stories of Tackling Corruption to Build a Sustainable Future URL: https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/speaking-up-locally-driving-change-globally Type: Publication or report Published: 2021-07-05 Updated: 2021-07-07 --- 05 July 2021 Drawing on true stories from 12 countries, this publication shows how people can break the cycle of injustice by working with our Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres (ALACs) – trusted partners for people who report corruption. It illustrates that change is possible when people speak up, even when the odds seem stacked against them. From Peru to Papua New Guinea, these stories are about standing up for individual people’s rights, in cases that can become powerful catalysts for wider change. The rich range of testimonies and experiences recounted to our staff reveals how corruption works in practice, helping us identify wider solutions that address real problems in everyday life. As well as helping individuals, communities and organisations to pursue their corruption-related complaints, the reports received by ALACs help inform our advocacy campaigns to make sure that our policy recommendations are grounded in real experience. They give us insight into how corruption works in practice, so that we can keep working on relevant solutions to fight it and address its root causes.
