# Recommendations on Women Against Corruption for OGP Action Plans URL: https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/recommendations-on-women-against-corruption-for-ogp-action-plans Type: Publication or report Published: 2020-11-05 Updated: 2020-11-05 --- 05 November 2020 Women suffer many types of discrimination – including legal, political, economic and socio-cultural forms of prejudice. It is therefore not surprising that women, and especially poor women, are particularly vulnerable to corruption. Women also play an important role in fighting corruption. Greater participation of women in public life can help in the design of gendered approaches to anti-corruption, which can prevent corruption experienced by women in the first place and allow them to resist it, report it and seek redress when it occurs. Corruption, whether financial or sexual, has far-reaching consequences for gender equality, sustainable development and democratic governance. Yet most states know very little about women’s experience of corruption and their role in tackling it, because it is not recognised as a priority in anti-corruption strategies, research agendas or statistical offices. The Open Government Partnership’s Break the Roles campaign aims to remedy this lack of recognition and is asking for at least 30 per cent of its members “to take meaningful action on gender and inclusion.” This paper contains recommendations for governments serious about tackling the impact of corruption on women and ensuring their participation in anti-corruption activities. ### Related publications ## [Protecting civic space in extractives governance: Towards enhanced EITI engagement on civic space](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/protecting-civic-space-in-extractives-governance) Publication • 05 October 2026 This brief evaluates the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative's (EITI) existing approach to addressing civic space challenges arising in EITI implementing countries and… ## [Ending Debt Secrecy: Recommendations to the G20 on Anti-Corruption in Sovereign Borrowing and Lending](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/ending-debt-secrecy-g20-recommendations) Publication • 04 September 2026 Recommendations to the G20 to strengthen transparency, accountability and integrity in sovereign borrowing and lending ## [Annual Report 2025](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/annual-report-2025) Publication • 17 July 2026 In 2025, Transparency International pursued its mission to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity at all levels and across all sectors of society. ## [Getting Political Finance Right: Preventing corruption with UNCAC CoSP Resolution 11/7](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/getting-political-finance-right) Publication • 15 May 2026 Resolution 11/7 is the world’s furthest-reaching consensus yet on preventing and combating corruption enabled by money in elections and politics. ## Priorities - [Gender](https://www.transparency.org/en/our-priorities/gender-and-corruption) ## Regions - [Global](https://www.transparency.org/en/region/global) ## Projects - [Anti-corruption in focus: Thematic leadership for the OGP](https://www.transparency.org/en/projects/anti-corruption-focus-thematic-leadership-ogp) ![](https://images.transparencycdn.org/images/WomenAgainstCorruptionOGP_Cover.jpg?auto=compress&fit=crop&fm=webp&w=1200) [Download](https://images.transparencycdn.org/images/2020_PolicyPaper_WomenAgainstCorruptionOGP_English.pdf)
