While the disruptive effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences cannot be over-stated, many countries in the region are managing to recover quickly, while others still suffer the dual health and economic crises. Despite vast socio-economic and political differences, corruption remains one of the key challenges across the region. Conducted between March 2019 and September 2020, the Global Corruption Barometer (GCB) – Asia is one of the largest, most detailed surveys of people's views and experiences of corruption and bribery in Asia. ### Related publications ## [Regional Assessment of Integrity in Political Finance in South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/integrity-political-finance-asia) Publication • 03 September 2026 This report reviews systems across 17 countries to identify the areas of political finance most in need of reform. ## [Whistleblowing Authorities in Europe: Roles, challenges and lessons learned](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/whistleblowing-authorities-in-europe-roles-challenges-and-lessons-learned) Publication • 19 June 2026 This report examines the institutional design, mandates and functioning of national whistleblowing authorities across Europe. ## [Strengthening Public Oversight: Good practices for partnerships between civil society and supreme audit institutions](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/strengthening-public-oversight-good-practices-for-partnerships-between-civil-society-and-supreme-audit-institutions) Publication • 29 May 2026 Stronger collaboration between Supreme Audit Institutions and Civil Society Organisations is needed for better public financial oversight. ## [Closing the Gaps: Detecting and investigating corrupt money flows in the Middle East and North Africa](https://www.transparency.org/en/publications/closing-the-gaps-middle-east-and-north-africa) Publication • 13 May 2026 Corruption and illicit financial flows remain serious and ongoing challenges across the Middle East and North Africa. ## Countries - [Bangladesh](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/bangladesh) - [China](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/china) - [Cambodia](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/cambodia) - [Nepal](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/nepal) - [Thailand](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/thailand) - [Maldives](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/maldives) - [Sri Lanka](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/sri-lanka) - [India](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/india) - [Indonesia](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/indonesia) - [Malaysia](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/malaysia) - [Taiwan](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/taiwan) - [Japan](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/japan) - [Myanmar](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/myanmar) - [Mongolia](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/mongolia) - [Philippines](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/philippines) - [South Korea](https://www.transparency.org/en/countries/south-korea) ## Regions - [Asia Pacific](https://www.transparency.org/en/region/asia-pacific) ## Projects - [Accountability in Asia Pacific](https://www.transparency.org/en/projects/accountability-in-asia-pacific) - [Indo-Pacific Partnership for Strong, Transparent, Responsive & Open Networks for Good Governance (IPP STRONGG) Phase II 2024 – 2029](https://www.transparency.org/en/projects/ti-indo-pacific-partnership-strong-transparent-responsive-open-networks-good-governance-ipp-strongg-phase-ii-2024-2029) ![](https://images.transparencycdn.org/images/GCB_Asia.jpg?auto=compress&fit=crop&fm=webp&w=1200) [Download](https://images.transparencycdn.org/images/GCB_Asia_2020_Report_Web_final.pdf)
