South Africa
There is limited enforcement against foreign bribery in South Africa. The country accounts for 0.4 per cent of global exports and opened 14 investigations and one case of foreign bribery between 2016 and 2019. No cases were concluded with sanctions during this time.
South Africa does not publish statistics about foreign bribery enforcement and neither does it have a central register for beneficial ownership information.
However, President Ramaphosa, who has been in office since 2018, has worked to strengthen law enforcement agencies and increase their capacity to investigate foreign bribery.
