The report by Transparency International’s Climate Governance Integrity Program analyses the IMO’s governance framework and makes recommendations to help the IMO equip itself against different forms of corruption risks, including undue influence. **Governance at the International Maritime Organisation: The case for reform** **3 April 2018** **09:00 CET** The shipping industry could contribute [up to 17% of global CO2 emissions by 2050](http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/STUD/2015/569964/IPOL_STU(2015)569964_EN.pdf) if left unregulated. The IMO has an integral role in helping the shipping industry meet the targets set out in the UN Sustainable Development [Goal 13](https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdg13) on climate change and [Goal 14](https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdg14) on oceans, as well as the targets of the Paris Agreement. The IMO Intersessional Working Group on Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) from Ships meets in London 3 – 6 April 2018. The agency’s Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) meets in London 9 – 13 April 2018.
