Transparency International condemns PM’s baseless claims against Bosnia and Herzegovina chapter

Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) - an integral actor in the fight against corruption and for better governance in this vital region - has been increasingly subjected to unwarranted and damaging attacks that have recently escalated with Prime Minister Dodik’s baseless claims that staff of TI BiH are engaged in racketeering and organised crime.

We trust that rule of law will prevail, and these accusations will be handled by an independent judiciary in the Republika Srpska in full accordance with principles of due process and impartiality; and we believe firmly that such intimidations, with their implicit threat of legal action, are unacceptable in any country or entity based on democracy and the rule of law.

We demand a signal from entity- and national-level authorities, as well as from the international community, that such treatment of independent civil society groups will not be tolerated.
