Judicial corruption blocks access to justice, hampers economic development, erodes human rights and undermines trust in the institutions of justice, denying victims and the accused the basic human right to a fair and impartial trial, sometimes even to a trial at all. The Report brings together notable scholars, judges and civil society activists from around the world to examine how, why and where corruption mars judicial processes, and to reflect on reforms and activism that help remedy a corruption-tainted system. **London** Global Launch **When:** Thursday 24 May, 2007 10:00 BST (11:00 GMT) **Speakers:** - [Huguette Labelle](http://www.transparency.org/whoweare/organisation/board_of_directors/1/), Chair, Transparency International - [Geoffrey Robertson](http://www.geoffreyrobertson.com), QC, Head of Doughty Street Chambers - [José Ugáz](http://www.transparency.org/whoweare/organisation/board_of_directors/1/), Partner, Benites, Forno & Ugáz, Former prosecutor, Fujimori case **Location:** The Middle Temple Hall Queens Room Middle Temple Lane London EC4Y 9AT **Spokespeople will be available for interviews in :** **English, French and Spanish.** **Nairobi** Simultaneous Launch **When:** 24 May, 2007 12:00 Noon local time **Speakers:** - [Akere Muna](http://www.transparency.org/whoweare/organisation/board_of_directors/1/), Vice Chair, Transparency International - [Casey Kelso](http://www.transparency.org/whoweare/contact#S_casey_kelso), Director, Africa and Middle East Department - Lilian Ekeanyanwu, National Coordinator, Zero Corruption Coalition, Nigeria - Dr. Richard Leakey, Interim Chairman, Transition Steering Committee, TI-Kenya **Location:** Norfolk Hotel Tinga Tinga Room City Square, Harry Thuku Road Nairobi **Spokespeople will be available for interviews in :** **English and French.** **Please note:** - Press packs will be available as of 24 May, 2007 in Arabic, French, English, Russian, Spanish and Swahili at [www.transparency.org](http://www.transparency.org) - All journalists attending press conferences will receive a hard copy of the Global Corruption Report 2007. ### *Transparency International is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption.* **For any press enquiries please contact** **Gypsy Guillén Kaiser** T: +49 30 34 38 20 662 E: press@transparency.org
