Our friends at the International Anti-Corruption Conference ([IACC](http://16iacc.org/)) run a social entrepreneurs [initiative](http://16iacc.org/game-changers/social-entrepreneurs/) that is providing grants to allow them to do just that. Here are two stories showing how these individuals are turning big ideas into big change: Buying a new home is a stressful process. In Moldova, however, an additional concern has buyers worried – the threat that the building construction company will disappear, taking their life savings with them. In Romania, a disconnect between citizens and the budgetary process has resulted in a lack of citizens’ participation and budgets that do not reflect their needs. But the ‘Funky Citizens’ are fighting back. There are many more like this happening across the world: Egyptian healthcare, Liberian schools and US citizen participation are just some of the other themes of IACC [social entrepreneur projects](http://16iacc.org/game-changers/social-entrepreneurs/) currently underway. Join the 16th IACC in Malaysia this September to be part of the global anti-corruption community. Bringing together activists, entrepreneurs, NGOs, governments and business, the conference takes place from 2 to 4 September under the theme “[Ending Impunity: People, Integrity, Action](http://16iacc.org/agenda/theme/).” For any press inquiries please contact ### You might also like... ## [Anti-corruption gaps are leaving democracy in Europe exposed](https://www.transparency.org/en/news/anti-corruption-gaps-leaving-democracy-europe-exposed) News • 15 September 2026 Too many European countries are failing to effectively implement and enforce their anti-corruption laws, while several are rapidly backsliding. ## [COP Talks: Formal Delegations, Informal Access](https://www.transparency.org/en/news/cop30-formal-delegations-informal-access) News • 14 September 2026 Our analysis of EU delegations found 63 fossil fuel-linked representatives accredited through nine EU Member States at COP30, raising concerns over transparency and influence in… ## [Transparency International 2025: while corruption spreads, here's proof change is possible](https://www.transparency.org/en/news/transparency-international-2025-while-corruption-spreads-heres-proof-change-is-possible) News • 17 July 2026 Corruption still involves envelopes of cash under tables in many countries.
