Transparency International UK’s Defence and Security Programme is looking for a full-time Programme Administrator to commence in June/July 2013. The position will be based in our London offices.

Organisational description

Transparency International (TI) is the civil society organisation leading the global fight against corruption. Through more than 90 national chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption, and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

The International Defence and Security Programme (DSP) is Transparency International’s programme dedicated to fighting corruption in the defence and security sector globally. It is based with Transparency International-UK in London. The Programme works with all stakeholders in the defence sector – defence companies, governments, multilateral organisations, civil society and media – to eliminate corruption through enhanced transparency and accountability.

The role

The team is now looking for a Programme Administrator. This position plays a key role in supporting almost all of TI DSP’s work. The principal task is to manage the programme’s budget and spending, which is increasing in complexity as the number of donor-funded projects rises.  In addition, the person liaises with the programme’s external advisors, supports our monitoring and evaluation activities, assists with the team’s travel arrangements, maintains the contact database and manages the office environment. This position reports to the Programme Manager. 

We are looking for an individual with a can-do attitude with: 

  • extensive experience with budgeting and accounting processes (essential); experience with Quickbooks is an asset
  • demonstrated experience in office administration and stakeholder relations
  • high level of IT competence (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email essential; Salesforce desirable)
  • excellent communication and organisational skills
  • a proactive, flexible and patient approach
  • a team player; ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • proven ability to work to tight deadlines, and a self-starter attitude
  • familiarity with an international non-profit / charity helpful but not required
  • desirable: educated to degree level

The position is based at our offices in Loman Street, London SE1. As this post is UK based, non-EC nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK.
