The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is seeking a highly motivated, pro-active intern to support its work in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Programme.
Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
Main function: Assist the work of the Middle East and North Africa team
Starting date: 10 June 2013
Duration: Six months, full time
Department: Middle East and North Africa
Remuneration: EUR 450 (according to the German labour and social security law)
Location: Berlin, Germany
Key tasks:
- Assist with the implementation of the Transparency International Middle East and North Africa Programme (TIMP) and other regional projects, mainly focussing on regional outreach tasks in cooperation with Regional Coordinators and the Regional Outreach Manager
- Assist in the preparation of workshops, conferences and trainings
- Liaise with contact groups and National Chapters on various issues
- Assist with the preparation of TI presentations and other documents to external interlocutors
- Undertake desk research in support of programme activities
- Overall support to all members of the department, including various administrative and budget management tasks
Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken) is a requirement; a working knowledge of Arabic (standard and/or colloquial) is highly desired; knowledge of French would be a strong asset
- Some knowledge of, and considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption (required)
- Knowledge of, or proven interest in the Middle East and North Africa (required)
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel (required)
- Excellent writing skills
- Interest in advocacy actions
- Meticulous and detail oriented
- Ability to conduct research autonomously
- Some prior office experience very desirable
