Terms of use

Our comments section is a space for readers to reflect on our articles, spark debate and share ideas. It could take up to 48 hours for your contribution to appear on the site, as we review each submission before publishing it. We welcome your input, but would like to keep the discussion constructive, relevant and to the point. Here are some simple guidelines that will help us achieve that:

  1. Stick to the topic.
  2. Keep your comment as brief as possible: 500 words is the maximum.
  3. We will delete any comment we see as defamatory, inflammatory, obscene, abusive, sexist, offensive or discriminatory.
  4. We will also delete all advertising, promotional material and spam.
  5. When commenting, avoid posting any personal information like your physical address, phone numbers or email address.
  6. Don’t cut and paste from other websites, Transparency International respects intellectual property.
  7. Respect the beliefs of your fellow posters and the writer of the article. Stick to commenting on ideas, not people.
  8. This is a mainly English site. To ensure that all readers have the same opportunity to share knowledge and ideas, we encourage you to write your comments in English too.
  9. If we have to remove or change comments, an explanation will be given where possible.
  10. The content of each comment reflects the views of the poster and not those of Transparency International.
  11. We will remove any comment that incites violence, condones/encourages unlawful activities, or endangers an individual. Links to other sites which break any of the above rules will be deleted too.
  12. If you feel that another poster has ignored these guidelines, please let us know at moderator@transparency.org
