TIAP and International Anti-Corruption Conventions
ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Action Plan for Asia and the Pacific
TIAP supports the ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Action Plan for Asia and the Pacific, endorsed by 27 governments in the region. TI is represented in the Advisory Group of the Steering Committee. For more information about the Action Plan, click here.
OECD Anti-Bribery Convention
TIAP supports the ratification and effective implementation of the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. Chapters in Australia, Japan, Korea and New Zealand have made significant contributions to Phases I and II of the Peer Review process and monitoring work. For more information on the Convention and steps taken by State Parties to implement and enforce the Convention, click here.
UN Convention against Corruption
TIAP supports the ratification process of the UN Convention Against Corruption. The UNCAC obliges to implement a wide and detailed range of anti-corruption measures affecting laws, institutions and practices in the public and private sector. These measures include prevention, detection and sanctioning of corruption, as well as the cooperation between State Parties on these matters. TIAP National Chapters across the region carried out activities to promote international legal standards enshrined in the Convention, raise the awareness of the Convention and further strengthen the fight against corruption.
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
In 2004, APEC Leaders "agreed that corruption was a serious threat to good governance and deterred investment." They "endorsed the Santiago Commitment to Fight Corruption and Ensure Transparency and the APEC Course of Action on Fighting Corruption and Ensuring Transparency (COA) which develops and implements it, including through the APEC anti-corruption initiative." TIAP supports the APEC Course of Action. For more information, click here.
