TIAP and Anti-corruption Education
TIAP National Chapters in Australia, Bangladesh, Fiji, Korea (South), Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vanuatu have developed numerous programmes and tools to equip public with knowledge of good governance, elections, access to information, and citizen rights. These activities are listed by country in alphabetical order below.

Australia
Anti-corruption education in secondary schools: "The Art of Governance - a resource pack for secondary teachers". Published by the Global Education Centre, South Australia, the book is designed as a resource to assist secondary teachers to introduce the concept of governance into the classroom.
Bangladesh
Youth Engagement and Support (YES) programme engages youth through several activities, including debates, street theatre, poster and sticker campaigns, and cartoons. TI Bangladesh has also used music to spread the anti-corruption message among young people. As a part of the YES programme, the Chapter organised the first ever Anti-Corruption Concert for the Youth on the theme "The Invincible Youth will surely Resist Corruption" in December 2006. Nearly 30,000 youngsters came to see the leading Bangladeshi musicians and artists, and ended the concert with taking an anti-corruption oath.
The Chapter has also used mobile street theatre to raise awareness on corruption among the general public. Stories and scripts are written and performed by volunteers of Committees of Concerned Citizens (CCCs). CCCs are public forums for awareness raising and citizen participation. By 2006, 36 CCCs have been established.

Fiji
In 2006, TI Fiji organised a Leadership and Governance Training Workshop for the newly elected members of the Parliament. For more information, please contact TI Fiji.
Korea (South)
TI Korea has aimed anti-corruption activities at middle and high school students. In 2006, it arranged a study trip to Cambodia giving students the possibility to personally see how corruption affects society. TI Korea has also organised educational seminars. For more information, contact TI Korea.
Clean Korea 21 Fair project aimed to provide a forum for information sharing and exchange. Exhibitions, symposiums, workshops and art competition were carried out by a coalition of members of the Presidential Commission for Rebuilding Korea, the Association of Public Enterprises and an NGO coalition. TV spots, CD Rom, and videos have been used as advocacy material. More information in TI's Tool Kit.
Nepal
In 2006, TI Nepal disseminated corruption awareness information within its " Children as Gurus/Catalysts" initiative. The activities involved 7 districts, 60 schools, 100 teachers, and 5000 students. The initiative engaged students and teachers in an open forum environment. Contact TI Nepal for more information.
Radio Waves. TI Nepal has produced radio programs with investigative reports, news, interviews and opinions from community radio stations. In 2006, 125 radio shows were broadcasted in 6 radio stations. The shows have increased community's engagement in the anti-corruption dialogue. To know more, please contact TI Nepal.
Anti-corruption messaging. In 2006, the Chapter put up 12 anti-corruption billboards to highly visible public areas. The objective of this initiative was to constantly remind the public and public officers of the issue of corruption. To know more, please contact TI Nepal.
The Chapter has used street drama (plays, poems) to raise awareness and advocate for anti-corruption actions. In 2006, 28 performances took place reaching ca. 7500 viewers. Contact TI Nepal for more information.
Professional Women Support Group. In 2006, TI Nepal hosted teachers' workshops to solicit women's feedback and participation in the anti-corruption work. To know more, please contact TI Nepal.
TI Nepal's Public Service Announcement Campaign used 30-60 seconds long TV spots for spreading anti-corruption messages. These spots were transmitted from national TV in prime time at least twice a week. For more information, read the TI Tool Kit 2002-2003 description or contact TI Nepal.
Pakistan
TI Pakistan has established youth clubs to raise anti-corruption awareness among university students. In 2006, the Chapter organised the 2nd Youth in Governance (YinG) Workshop. More information on the Youth in Governance website.
Child's View of Corruption. TI Pakistan has managed to reach high awareness raising impact through involvement of over 400 schools and about 20,000 students in its awareness raising programme “Child's View of Corruption”. The programme aims to equip students with skills to realise their rights and responsibilities, as well as educate on good governance and active citizenship. The programme is carried out with the City District Government through its ministry of education and the directorates of primary and the secondary education. As a part of the programme, TI Pakistan organised a poster exhibition “Children paint corruption” in April 2007.
Papua New Guinea
Electoral Reform and Awareness Project. To promote transparency in elections, TI Papua New Guinea has carried out voter education activities. The Electoral Reform and Awareness Project includes voter education, e.g. mock elections and awareness seminars. See the press release for more information.

Sri Lanka
Since 2006, TI Sri Lanka carried out anti-corruption education activities targeted at the public sector. In cooperation with local development organisations, the Chapter contributed to the development of an Anti-Corruption Manual for public officials. The activities also include organising a series of workshops, conducting 12 awareness programmes for the public sector, and organising discussion sessions on corruption on TV and radio, and publishing of a journal on Anti Corruption. Thailand
TI Thailand has produced weekly live radio talk shows on anti-corruption and transparency since 2001. The 2-hour radio show "Together we are combating corruption" is aiming at educating Thai public on the issue of transparency and good governance. Guest speakers from various organisations are invited to speak on various topics such as e-procurement, corporate governance, public information, transparency and fair elections, and UN Convention against Corruption. TI Thailand has also organised anti-corruption and transparency Youth Camps and forums to educate school children and youth on how they can fight corruption. TI's Tool Kit gives an overview on these events.
Vanuatu
As a part of its anti-corruption work, TI Vanuatu has arranged several Awareness Workshops to empower people on various issues of good governance, rights and duties and how corruption can be controlled. The Chapter has distributed civics booklets in these events.
In 2006, the Chapter launched a media project, which aims to increase the sense of ethics and citizenship among public with the use of media. Activities include organising workshops for journalists on civics and freedom of information, and running a radio programme on civics. The project has been successful in increasing anti-corruption dialogue.
TI Vanuatu has also developed civics curricula for secondary schools. Topics include civics, ethics/values, democracy, human rights, gender equity, and good governance. In addition, the Chapter has prepared training materials for teachers.
