(Combattre la corruption - enjeux et perspectives, 2002)
ed. Djilali Hadjadj, 2002, p 360. Price: EUR28, ISBN: 2-84586-311-X.
Combattre la corruption, enjeux et perspectives is an adaptation by TI's National Chapters in Francophone Africa of the leading anti-corruption reference work, the TI Source Book 2000 Confronting Corruption: The Elements of a National Integrity System, by Jeremy Pope, to the context of Francophone Africa. It describes practical reforms that can be taken in each sector of society.
With a foreword presenting a diagnosis of corruption in Francophone Africa, the book outlines the tools that can be used to combat the phenomenon of corruption. With many boxes highlighting examples and counter-examples from the region, the publication sets out a holistic approach to tackling corruption by recommending a strengthening of the institutions that collectively comprise a country's "national integrity system". From the executive, legislature and judiciary, through civil society, the private sector and watchdog agencies to international institutions and an independent media, each pillar of integrity is crucial to maintaining the equilibrium of the system.

Anti-Corruption Conventions in Africa: What Civil Society Can Do to Make Them Work
Part of a regional series on civil society action in anti-corruption conventions, this guide focuses on the two principal anti-corruption conventions in Africa – the African Union (AU) anti-corruption convention and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
Understanding the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and related Offences
Corruption is exacerbating poverty and deprivation and truncating the democratic process and rules of competition. The adoption of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and Related Offences in Maputo, Mozambique in July 2003 is a landmark in the fight against corruption on the African continent. The convention developed by the African Union provides both a regional framework and a transnational process for cooperation and monitoring. Transparency International’s handbook explains this important convention in simple language. It is intended to inform and encourage, assisting the African citizenry’s fight against corruption.
The complete handbook can be downloaded in English and French.

TI Source Book for the Arab World
Making governments and institutions more accountable are imperatives in improving the economic and social fabric of society in the Arab world. A unique and relevant tool, which has already been translated into 20 languages, the Source Book empowers activists and policymakers alike, providing examples of best practice and paving the way for further anti-corruption work. This is particularly relevant for the Middle East and North Africa, a region rich in heritage and natural resources, but where wealth and benefits frequently fail to flow to those who need them most.
The new Source Book for the Arab World is the result of a need expressed by anti-corruption activists throughout the region. The adaptation of the Source Book to the Arab context aims to address the causes and manifestations of corruption in this geographic and cultural region and develop appropriate tools to fight it. It is the product of a series of workshops and consultations with TI Chapters, the media, the private sector, and members of civil society in the MENA region.
