empowering communities affected by corruption

Believing that those affected by corruption can themselves become agents for change, TI National Chapters in Africa and the Middle East engage with citizens and support their capacity to refuse to accept corruption and re-claim transparency in public life.

One of the instruments to give victims of corruption a voice to speak out against corruption are the Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres (ALAC) developed by TI on a global level. The ALACs provide assistance to witnesses and victims of corruption and provide valuable information about corruption hotspots to drive the advocacy efforts of the anti-corruption movement. Please visit the global priority section about ALACs to find out more about the background of this issue and case studies. A list of existing and planned ALACs in Africa and the Middle East can be accessed here.

TI promotes the development of ALACs in the Middle East and North-Africa region through the Transparency International Mediterranean Advocacy and Legal Advice Centres Programme (TIM ALAC) in Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Egypt and Jordan. The project aims to address the problems of public apathy and lacking mechanisms for victims by establishing ALACs in these Middle Eastern and North-African countries. To learn more about the TIM ALAC programme please check our current projects or download the flyer.
