Africa and Middle East
Welcome to the Transparency International Africa and Middle East Department webpage.
Transparency International (TI) has 16 National Chapters, 5 National Chapters in Formation and 6 National Contacts in Africa and the Middle-East. Despite their geographical proximity and the numerous economic, social and cultural ties between these two regions, the challenges posed by corruption in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East and North Africa are distinct in a number of ways. The TI Africa and Middle East Department was created as a regional platform to exchange ideas and information, to bring together tools and resources being produced by individual countries, to organize regional workshops and seminars to facilitate the common goal of fighting corruption.
On this page, you will find information about TI’s priority issues, projects and activities in the region, resources and publications developed by the regional department or national chapters, both current and archived news from the movement, as well as contact details of TI National Chapters and contact groups in Africa and the Middle East.
The Africa and Middle East department at TI-S works with two sub-regional groups – Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). To read a more detailed introduction on the characteristics and specific corruption-related challenges in each of these sub-regions, please click on the appropriate link. To find out in which countries in these regions TI has National Chapters, national contacts or chapters in formation, please see the table below or go to the contact us pages.
