Anti-corruption in Afghanistan –a view from the ground
In and out of war for the last quarter century, Afghanistan’s infrastructure and institutions have been left in a very fragile condition. Its ongoing reconstruction is a major, and enormously expensive, task, providing increased opportunity for corruption. But with problems such as lingering conflict and persistent insecurity, soaring drug production and trafficking, and a government's whose hold on power is not assured, corruption is just one problem among many. Tansparency Watch talks with two civil society activists on the ground in Afghanistan to find out how much of a problem corruption is for the state and its people.
