TI’s National Integrity System (NIS) country studies

TI’s National Integrity System (NIS) country studies are qualitative reports that provide a detailed and nuanced assessment of anti-corruption systems at country level. Since their introduction in 2001, these studies have provided a rich resource that profiles strengths and weaknesses in national anti-corruption systems.

Country studies are conducted by local organisations - mainly TI national chapters or country independent researchers - who have the contacts and knowledge to reveal what formal elements of the NIS are in place, as well as how they work in practice. The studies therefore represent the experience and assessments of researchers who are ideally placed to comment on the state of anti-corruption in their country. To know more on the methodology of the NIS country studies, please download the latest Terms of Reference and Questionnaire Guidelines:

Via this site you can access, by geographic region, the more than 50 NIS country studies conducted since 2001, as well as a number of related regional overviews. Please note that many NIS country studies consist of a narrative report and questionnaire that can be downloaded separately.
