Transparency International Pakistan Annual Members Meeting

The Annual Members Meeting was held at the Hotel Avari in Karachi on the 22nd of June, 2009. The meeting was attended by the members and the board of trustees.

The meeting started with the introduction of the new trustees that were elected to the board by the Chairman. The new members were Justice (R) Haziqul Khairi, ex-Chief Justice of the Shariat Court, Justice (R) Dr. Ghous Mohammad, ex-Justice of the Sindh High Court, Engr. M.A. Jabbar, Chairman SITE Association of Industries. Mr. Sohail Muzaffar, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and Mr. Javed Farooq, Industrialist.

The gathering was informed, via presentation, of the organization’s activities for the past one year by Mr. Saad Rashid. This was followed by a presentation on the Anti-Corruption Project Pakistan Phase II. Mr. Syed Adil Gilani presented the highlight of the NCPS 2009 and Advocacy and Legal Advice Center (ALAC), describing the challenges faced.

The Executive Director presented the Audited Report of the period ending June 2008 followed by the budget for the next financial year. He also presented the strategic plan for the period 2008-2011. He answered the queries of the members on the audit report, budget and strategic plan.

New members were added to strengthen the Advisory Committee.

Ending the meeting, an open forum was held where the members attending the meeting asked for clarification and gave their suggestions on issues discussed. They also presented their views on how TI Pakistan should tackle corruption in the country.
