TIPNG welcomes fresh faces to the Board
Transparency International PNG Inc (TIPNG) now has some new faces on the board after their appointment during the 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Monday (30/03/09) this week.
The new members nominated and appointed to the board are Anne Kajir, Gail Edoni and Charlie Gilichibi. Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board from their respective professions.
The AGM also endorsed Fiu Williame Igara as a Director, pending the required notice period. The nomination by the members of TI PNG of Mrs Igara to the board will bring the number of women on the board to five and the total number of Directors to 15 which is the requirement of TIPNG under its constitution.
Interim Chairman Mr Peter Aitsi was nominated unopposed and appointed at the AGM as the Chairman of TIPNG. Mr. Lawrence Stephens and Mr. Paul Nindipa were nominated and reappointed as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Chairman Peter Aitsi acknowledged the appointments of the new Directors to the board and also thanked outgoing Directors Leon Buskens, Ian Tarutia, and Dr Orovu Sepoe for their tireless effort and contribution in giving direction to the operations of the organisation.
The AGM also noted that 2008 was indeed a sad year for the organisation with the untimely death of its Late Chairman Mike Manning. Mr. Manning’s achievements and contributions were recognised by the members during the AGM, and the members also resolved to name the annual TI Youth Democracy Camp in honour of Mr. Manning. Treasurer Paul Nindipa also tabled the TIPNG audited accounts for the members at the AGM.
Mr Nindipa announced to members that the TIPNG accounts were unqualified after audits adding that the financial position of the organisation is sound and positive. The audits were done by professional accounting firm Price Waterhouse Coopers which was again nominated by members at the AGM as the official auditor for TIPNG in 2009.
