The conference will discuss the challenges of sustainable development, with themes such as 'development aid vs. humanitarian assistance during conflict'. The goal is to contribute to post-conflict transformation and peace-building. Delegates will include community organisations, policy makers and academics working in the field of conflict and development.

The Chatham House Africa Programme is setting up the British Congo Forum to increase and improve debate and the flow of information on the Democratic Republic of Congo in the UK. The Forum will provide a space enabling proper dialogue and consideration on this complex country, and will help to improve UK-DRC engagement. This event marks the launch of the series and will be chaired by the head of the Chatham House Africa Programme Alex Vines. Speakers will include Muzong Kodi, who will present his paper on anti-corruption in post-election DRC.

The workshop will focus on the training of civil servants working in various Mexican municipalities. Ways will be suggested as to how international cooperation programmes can be used in the fight against poverty through more localised development projects. The workshop will be attended by the EU Delegation to Mexico, the Foreign Affairs Secretary, AMMAC (Association of Mexican Municipalities) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)

This year’s social forum rallies around the dictum ‘Another World is Possible’. Held in Nairobi, the WSF will focus on African issues as well as social justice, gender equality and the exploitation of the poor.

The IYLA conference will be attended by 200 students from Africa and around the world. The event will consist of site visits, panel discussions, special events, and simulations of important African Intergovernmental Organisations, which will culminate at the end of the week with a Model Pan-African Parliament. Among other topics, the participants will deal with corruption, good governance, African governing traditions (ACHPR), corporate governance and corporate responsibility.

The event will bring together participants from the corporate sector, governments, international organisations and institutes to discuss the natural resource dimension of sustainable development. The summit will emphasise the need for natural resource management to harness sustainable development.

With the legislative amendments that have been implemented by the Tax Reform Bill in Colombia, this seminar seeks to provide practitioners in tax management with practical planning tools to adapt to these changes.

This event aims to explore the links between security, hunger, poverty and natural disaster and to build partnerships between stakeholders including United Nations agencies and governments. An exhibition, NGO area, learning centre and workshops will allow delegates to network and expand their knowledge of the current and potential relationship between aid and trade. There will also be a special “Focus on Procurement”, which will discuss practical measures to ensure the transparent tendering of contracts.

This year’s forum will focus on the challenges facing the global agenda in 2007 in the fields of economics, geopolitics, technology and business. As in previous Annual Meetings, there will be an Open Forum where the general public will have the opportunity to discuss a number of different topics ranging from foreign aid to global energy consumption.

The conference brings together government officials, the private sector and academia to discuss how government can accelerate transformation through the promotion of e-governance initiatives.

The event seeks to provide a platform for exchange between national and local government, the private and public sectors and civil society, to formulate strategic priorities in Asia’s urban development and to address poverty in Asian cities.

Speakers include Angel Gurria, Secretary General of the OECD. Discussions will focus on ethical decision-making at all levels and promoting good governance worldwide. The goal is to bring together participants from all sectors and to provide a concrete opportunity for transparent dialogue. In the two days prior to the event, Transparency International’s Canadian chapter will be hosting a workshop on the ethical challenges of municipal government and administration.

The report examines topics such as the system of contracting of public officials, public contracting, systems to protect whistleblowers and defining acts of corruption in Honduras. Following the event, there will be an anti-corruption march on 10th of February supported by the National Anti-Corruption Council.

This year’s ADM conference focuses on good governance in the EU’s approach to development.

Building on the success of last year’s World Ethics and Integrity Forum, TI Malaysia and the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute, together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Caux Round Table, have organised the 2007 World Ethics and Transparency Forum. The event will bring together experts in the field of transparency, senior civil servant, business leaders and NGOs to discuss how to better articulate good ethics in the public and private sectors.

The Inter-American Convention Against Corruption was signed in 1996 by the members of OAS. The IACC countries have committed themselves to establish anti-corruption measures, particularly in public procurement and appointments in the judiciary. This year’s follow-up convention will feature workshops and lectures on access to information, conflicts of interest in the civil service, public participation and the future of the IACC.

TI-UK is holding an event on the UK's approach to fighting international corruption. The meeting will be open to members and other interested parties. Every year, the international community spends billions of dollars on peacebuilding activities and post-conflict reconstruction. Often, a significant portion of these funds are siphoned off due to corrupt activities, eroding confidence in new democratic institutions, undermining economic development, diverting scarce public resources for infrastructure investments, and reducing the delivery of vital social services. This workshop will bring together leading international scholars and practitioners to develop a framework for thinking about peacebuilding and corruption by building on existing theories. This framework and its associated concepts and ideas will be applied to case studies of Liberia, Afghanistan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina— each at a different stage of the peacebuilding process.

Clean technology, micro-credit, business-NGO partnerships are some examples of innovating approaches. This 6th FEDERE forum will bring together leaders from business, NGOs, unions and politics to debate around those issues. Some of the topics that will be discussed include: The boom of clean technologies; Include the Poor in you business plan; Raising awareness among consumers; and Corporate governance and ethics.

The fifth Global Forum event will look at the links between corruption and poverty and the strengthening of anti-corruption institutions. The 2007 event is to be held in Africa for the first time, with the theme “Fulfilling our commitments: Effective action against corruption”. It is expected to attract 1500 delegates, including ministers and senior officials from over 100 countries. The overall objective of the event is to discuss practical and effective measures for preventing and fighting corruption.

This open discusion wil tackle recomandations over criteria proposed for the election of candidatures for the new Albanian head of state. Members of ACAC as well as other representatives from NGOs will attend the event.

This Roundtable is held to discuss the findings on the World Economic Forum third Arab World Competitiveness Report with its authors and researchers, and to shape its impact on economic policy-making in the region with key decision-makers. It will also provide first-hand insight into growth industries and markets that will drive the engine of the Arab economies in the future.

TRACE organizes anti-bribery training workshops throughout the world for its members. These seminars feature local and foreign business people and lawyers familiar with the practical challenges of international commercial transactions. The workshops are designed to provide attendees with the information they need to navigate these challenges and comply with international conventions and local anti-bribery laws.

The Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group meet to discuss the work of their institutions. The Annual Meetings include 2 days of plenary sessions, during which Governors consult with one another and the Boards of Governors make decisions on how current international monetary issues should be addressed. The Annual Meetings are chaired by a Governor of the Bank and the Fund, with the chairmanship rotating among the membership each year. The World Economic Forum’s roundtable key purpose is to assist Latin America’s well-established and growing industries to compete globally. The 42nd Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank and the 33rd Meetings of the Board of the African Development Fund are being held after a major Sino-African Summit in Beijing in November 2006. The OECD Forum is a multi-stakeholder summit which brings together business and labour leaders, civil society personalities, government ministers and leaders of international organisations to discuss the hottest issues on the international agenda. It takes place in conjunction with the annual OECD Ministerial Summit. The World Economic Forum on the Middle East will gather world leaders in business and politics to address the importance of social and political diversity and economic diversification in the region. The Forum provides a high-level platform for interaction between leaders. The programme will tackle three main pillars: Industries of the Future; Peace, Stability and International Relations; and Trade Society and Change.

The Annual Meeting and Business Forum will see high-level government officials, financial and corporate executives, the media and NGOs coming together to discuss opportunities for the ex-Soviet republics.

The seminar will include members from EUROSocial, the EU, CEJA and the Chilean Supreme Court of Justice. The IFJ Congress is the largest representative gathering of journalists in the world and is held every three years. The theme for this year’s event is Making News for Democracy: Building Trust in Quality Journalism, and will include a core programme of events including sessions on journalism and inter-cultural dialogue in the face of terrorism and intolerance and a special one-day conference on May 28th, on Challenging Impunity: the Global Campaign for Justice in Journalism when an International Commission of Inquiry into Impunity in the Killing of Journalists in Russia will be launched.

Every year, Transparency International's national chapters in the Europe and Central Asia, as well as secretariat staff, meet in a selected location to discuss the issues facing the region as a whole. Over the three days of the meeting, workshops and plenary sessions will be held. The regional meeting will close with a cultural programme organised by this year's host, Azerbaijan.

The Crinis project compares the levels of transparency and accountability in political party and campaign financing systems in eight Latin American countries. Crinis, which means “ray of light” in Latin, helps increase citizens’ trust in political parties by identifying, motivating and guiding reforms in political financing systems.

The LAWASIA conferences focus on legal issues affecting China and, more broadly, the Asia-Pacific region. The last LAWASIA biennial conference will include sessions on "Mutual cooperation between courts in the region: Enforcement of judgements in China" and "The role of the courts in nurturing an ethical and vialble legal profession".

The 2007 edition of the International Forum on African Perspectives will feature a presentation and discussion of the the AfDB/OECD joint annual report that offers a comparative panorama of the economic, political and social evolution of 31 African economies and assesses progress of Africa towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. This year’s focus is: Access to Drinking Water and Sanitation. Held on the eve of the G8 summit, where the partnership with Africa will be a major issue for discussion, the Forum is an opportunity for personalities from African and OECD countries to assess the economic prospects of the continent and engage with an audience of journalists, business people, development co-operation professionals, researchers, civil society representatives and academia.

The G8 summits are an opportunity for world leaders to come together and discuss issues that require a coordinated international response, such as global security, environmental degradation and debt relief. These yearly meetings also help to set the agenda for the international community as whole by setting priorities, defining present and future issues and providing direction for international organisations.

Each year, a different country assumes the presidency and hosts the annual summit. In 2007, Germany holds the rotating presidency. The summit will be held in Heiligendamm, situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea between 6 and 8 June.

Judicial corruption has powerful and damaging repercussions on development, limiting the ability of individuals, businesses and countries to grow, and threatening basic rights such as access to justice and the right to a fair trial. How does judicial corruption manifest itself, what remedies exist for corruption-tainted systems, and what are the roles of different stakeholders?
On June 6, the Wolfensohn Center for Development at the Brookings Institution and Transparency International-USA will host a discussion on Transparency International's 2007 Global Corruption Report. The report brings together work by notable scholars, judges, and civil society activists from around the world. Panelists will discuss the report's findings, why and where corruption mars judicial processes and what can be done. Experts include: Aryeh Neier, Susan Rose-Ackerman, Eduardo Bertoni, Philip Bond, and Noel Hillman. After the program, panelists will take audience questions.

UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) holds a 10-day summer course devoted to the topic “ Transparency, accountability and anti-corruption measures in education”. It gathers about 25 to 30 participants from all the regions of the world, mainly high-level managers and administrators; but also representatives from the civil society and donor agencies. The Course draws on the training materials developed under the Institute’s research programme on “Ethics and corruption in education”. The agenda includes a general overview of the issue of corruption in the education sector; presentations of some basic tools to diagnose and assess corruption problems; and discussions on some of the successful strategies for improving transparency and accountability in selected domains, such as financing, procurement, teacher management, private tutoring and academic fraud.

This conference, presented by the Criminal Law section of the International Bar Association, will focus on latest developments in judicial corruption, as well as mutual extradition. This is a knowledge-based course which aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the challenges and limits of the ‘resource curse’ and the governance of revenue generated by the oil, gas and mining industries. The course is intended primarily for civil society activists seeking to improve the impacts that extractive revenues have on the economic, social and political development of their countries.

Ten years after the Inter-American Convention against Corruption entered into force, many are asking whether it is fulfilling its intended role of strengthening governance and reducing corruption. Civil society organizations from across the hemisphere have presented a critical non-governmental perspective on progress to the Convention’s inter-governmental review body.

TI National Chapters from México, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela will share their views and recommendations, with a special focus on efforts to reduce corruption in public contracting and increase whistleblower protection. Their presentations will underscore the important role of civil society monitoring of convention enforcement – a role facing increasing resistance in many countries.

The 7th Global Forum will offer plenary sessions, workshops and meetings designed to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals by strengthening state capacity and the quality of governance. The conference will examine best practices and alternative strategies for building trust in government. The conference also aims to promote better international and regional cooperation.

The conference will present and debate the results of a three year research study funded by the European Union that has examined whether Corporate Social Responsibility can lead to genuine impacts on society and the environment or whether CSR is merely rhetorical presentation.

This workshop is being organized for the Procurement Officials from various Departments of the Government of Sindh, who had recently promulgated the Sindh Procurement Regulatory Authority and adopted the Pakistan Procurement Regulatory Authority Rules on June 30th 2007. It is being conducted by TI-Pakistan in collaboration with PPRA and World Bank Pakistan Office. During the workshops the salient features of the PPRA Rules will be deliberated upon. At the end of each sessions an interactive discussion will be held with the participants so that the doubts regarding any of the rules may be clarified.

This course has two main components: a core course aims to familiarise participants with key ingredients for developing strategic and critical approaches to effective and sustainable corruption control and organisational integrity; and á policy lab on the governance of oil, gas and mining revenues will allow in-depth discussion of policy issues. It seeks to apply the macro perspectives of the core course to extractive revenue issues to explore and generate possible solutions

The course is open to experienced policy makers and government representatives, academics and civil society activists.

The workshop aims to provide an opportunity the latest ideas and reflections on latest research findings and policy implications; to seek to identify key aspects of governance necessary for economic growth; and to develop networks to improve research and its impact on policy development.

The Congress will address contemporary administrative issues under the major theme of Global Competitiveness and Public Administration' with a focus on implications for education and training. This year's sub-topics will be: public administration in a globalised world - local, national, regional, and universal issues; making globalisation ethical - the 21st century public administration; and global governance and the globalisers: IMF, the World Bank, WTO, and the EU.

The dawn of the MDG half-way point on 07/07/07 requires that the global community takes a moment to critically evaluate progress made towards meeting the MDG’s since 2001. In particular, the African continent has an even greater burden, since evidence shows that it is the only continent that is likely to not meet the MDG’s by 2015. This is a reality that the African people cannot afford, as failure to meet the MDG’s means that poverty, rampant disease and vulnerability will continue to plaque the continent.

Even the United Nations 2007 Update, Africa and the Millennium Development Goals admitted that Africa is not on track:” at the mid point between their adoption in 2000 and the 2015 target date for achieving the Millennium Development Goals, sub-Saharan Africa is not on track to achieve any of the goals. Although there have been, major gains in several areas and the Goals remain achievable in most African nations, even the best governed countries of the continent have not been able to make sufficient progress in reducing extreme poverty in its many forms.”

The workshop will look critically at factors that are hindering the continent and South Africa from achieving the MDG’s and will briefly evaluate progress, but more specifically outline what can be done to accelerate MDG implementation in the next 7 years.

On July 10 the Americas Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will host a conference on the topic: “Anti-Corruption Efforts in Latin America – Lessons Learned.” This half-day event will examine country-specific and regional efforts at countering official corruption, analyzing the degree to which progress has been made and the further steps needed to bring a higher degree of ethics and transparency to governance. The conference will consist of three panels: one examining case studies; a second examining regional compliance with the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption and the relevant UN Conventions; and a third providing an overall evaluation of regional progress and pending steps to be taken. The conference will bring together experts from the region and the United States.

The objective of the conference is to bring together an international group of selected experts from academia and fieldwork to discuss the assumptions, methods and results of Crinis. This project, a partnership between Transparency International and the Carter Center, seeks to stimulate and guide reforms of political finance systems to contribute to higher levels of integrity in political representation and equality in electoral processes. Traditional jurisdictional boundaries are fast disappearing in our globalized world today. The need for trust and integrity is being felt more than before, in our own regional economies and our global one. How does one aspire to achieve this trust and integrity in our global economy? What relationship does this bear with the bottom line? Should we go beyond this bottom line to secure our future? TIGE strives to answer these questions by addressing value driven leadership, social corporate responsibility, global environmental and farming initiatives of change and ethics at the workplace.

Keynote presentations will include “Freedom of Expression in Inter-American Human Rights Court Case Law,” by the president of the Dominican Court Sergio García Ramírez, as well as panel discussions on judges' experiences with regards crimes against journalists going unpunished. Supreme Court chief justices and members and representatives of organisations that defend freedom of the press and freedom of expression will be present at the event to examine viable ways to reduce the impunity in crimes against journalists.

Ethical behaviour and countering the risks from bribery and corruption are a concern for businesses of all sizes. This Transparency International workshop organized by Schema and supported by the Centre for International Private Enterprise will provide information on the latest developments from expert speakers and offer practical approaches to countering bribery including a presentation of the ‘Business Principles for Countering Bribery’. The workshop is aimed primarily at companies but also at individuals and organizations interested in the issue. The workshop will allow ample time for smaller group discussions to address key issues.

TI Asia Pacific recognises the serious need to work with other stakeholders in the global movement to protect the earth’s environment. The goal is to contribute to and support environmental and social movements by providing TI’s expertise in combating corruption through tested tools, best practices and anti-corruption support networks.

Transparencia Venezuela, TI’s National Chapter, together with the Society and Press Institute (IPYS), the Venezuelan Institute for Social and Politics Investigation (INVESP) and, the Social Organization CESAP, will launch its group called “Coalition Pro Access”.

This group aims to promote, among other sectors in the country, activities that promote the right of the public to access to information. The meeting will have as first step to ratify their agreement “ For the Right to Know“ (X Principios del Derecho a Saber), emphasising the need for strong organisations to come together to demand their right for information access, and to implement this initiative within their own institutions.

The group will also present some tools which will serve as an initial strong basis for future coordination activities among the Venezuelan institutions regarding this issue.

The World Water Week in Stockholm is the leading annual global meeting place for capacity-building, partnership-building and follow-up on the implementation of international processes and programmes in water and development.

The conference aims to provide a forum for exchanges of experiences for judicial officers and lawyers in the Caribbean on the issue of equality and to build on the CMJA's work in gender and human rights awareness in the judicial field.

Promoting transparent procurement and strengthening corporate responsibility.

The International Congress is AIESEC’s Annual Global Leadership Convention. Africa Unbound seeks to answer questions on why Africa matters, how and if the EU’s policymaking in Africa has started to change and what role investment and public/private partnerships can play in promoting growth and addressing health challenges on the continent.

During this second Assembly hosted by GSI, the importance of robust and vibrant civil societies for positive development outcomes and good governance will be discussed. This year's theme at the EABIS conferenfe is "The Emerging Global Governance Paradigm: The Role of Business and its Implications for Companies, Stakeholders and Society"- The event will examine the contributions, commitments and impacts that business can make through governance to address the key issues and challenges of globalisation and sustainable development. Ethics and compliance leaders from corporations, government agencies, and academic institutions around the world will be convening in an interactive forum to address the current and emerging ethical challenges in organizations today.

This event is the largest conference of ethics and compliance practitioners, with 700 attendees expected. Representatives from every industry sector, including retail, manufacturing, energy, technology, services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, utilities, and major financial institutions, as well as government agencies, government sponsored enterprises, municipalities, nonprofits and academic institutions will be on hand.

Transparency International Croatia will organise a rock concert on Cvjetni trg in center of Zagreb on Right to Know Day (September 28th). During this concert, the Right to Access Information Act and the Law of Financing Political Parties and Electoral Campaigns will be promoted.

Two well-known Croatian bends, Majke and Zabranjeno pušenje will play, so we expect that this concert could gather an attendance of 6000 people. During the concert two most important parts of these laws on two screensthere will be projected, the results of the surveys conducted by Transparency International Croatia, and additional material about these laws will be distributed during the concert.

Concert is part of our "We have the right to know campaign!", which we started at the beginning of September to promote afore mentioned laws. The campaign will last until October 15th.

Participación Ciudadana, Transparency International's national chapter in the Dominican Republic, is organising a public march against corruption and impunity together with a group of civil society organisations. The walk will start on Saturday, 29 September, 4pm at the Plaza España.

TI's national chapter in Venezuela is organising an international seminar on how to demand information from public institutions, involving a day programme of seminars & working groups, with representatives from academia, civil society, the media and government. This international event is offered on a pro bono basis. It joins the world of research with the world of practice, attracting graduate and post-graduate students in the social sciences and anti-corruption policymakers and practitioners. The program consists of training modules, lectures, workshop sessions, case studies, and poster and keynote presentations.

In this year's conference particular attention will be paid to anti-corruption measures and business engagement in climate & energy policies. Furthermore, the participating delegates will debate on the lessons learnt in view of attaining the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) and discuss the role of the private sector as a de-facto regulator in governance issues. This forum will identify good practices of companies that are conducive to viable global governance structures and thus are able to contribute to a dynamic and broad-based economic development.

The Development Assistance Committee's (DAC) Network on Governance (GOVNET) aims at improving the effectiveness of donor assistance in governance and in support of capacity development. It provides members with a policy forum for exchanging experiences, and lessons, as well as identifying and disseminating good practice, and developing pro-poor policy and analytical tools.

This event is part of the Development Assistance Committee's annual meeting.

This Summit deals with concerns that are essential today for the credibility of any company doing business across national borders. Transnational crime is a defining issue of the 21st century for political and business decision makers.

The conference gathered anti-corruption activists from all over the global TI network to exchange tools and strategies and move forward the anti-corruption agenda. Some time was dedicated to TI’s internal governance, including the election to vacant seats on the international Board of Directors.

The 5th edition of Play the Game will take place in Iceland, marking the 100th anniversary of the Icelandic Youth and Sports Association. The event will host experts, journalists and sports leaders from the whole world to discuss how sport can serve social development and deal with some of its hardest challenges. Among the themes Play the Game is considering for 2007 are: Corruption, money laundering, trafficking: Can football come clean?; Wheels of fortune: Does cycling have a future? Gene doping: A brave new sports world?; Fat chance: Can Sport Save a Sedentary Society?; Child Labour in Sport: What became of the right to play?; and Megaevents and development: Beijing 2008, South Africa 2010 and London 2012.

The Ministerial Meeting will gather high level delegations from the countries participating in the Programme to identify elements crucial to fostering investment climate suitable to innovation and adopt new tools for implementation of investment policy reform. The meeting will equally attract private sector representatives from all over the region, who will be engaging in targeted discussions on topics which the Programme has been working on throughout 2006, including corporate governance, taxation environement, and financial sector development, among others. Private sector participants will also be invited to participate in the Business Day following the Ministerial Meeting on the 30 October, during which the Second Annual Business Awards ceremony will be organised.

This 2007 summit will lend its attention and focus on the many commercial opportunities in Africa. In this way, the summit will play a pivotal role in promoting Africa's economic regeneration by providing a platform for European and African enterprises to develop creative business relationships.

While NEPAD Council takes the African development agenda beyond aid to focus on sustainable growth mechanisms, we are also involved in engaging those who mean it with Africa so as to work together to enhance commercial ties between the European Business Community and African countries at large.

The Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, also known as the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, was adopted on 21 November 1997. The text of the Convention and the Commentaries were signed by ministers and high level representatives of negotiating countries on 17 December 1997.

An international celebration of the tenth anniversary of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, hosted and organised by the Government of Italy and the OECD Working Group on Bribery, will provide an important and timely opportunity to foster broader public understanding and support of the Convention. It will also raise awareness about the important progress and changes over the last decade and countries’ commitment to continued joint action. This celebration will be a unique occasion to show that State Parties have strengthened their anti-bribery legislation and systems to level the playing field for international business, and how recent increases in foreign bribery investigations and prosecutions testify to a new business environment where unfair, unethical and unlawful behaviour is no longer tolerated.

Through the Symposium on "Ethics in Business – Corporate Culture & Spirituality" (CCS), the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) brings together business, academic and spiritual leaders to initiate a dialogue on new leadership styles that are sustainable and ensure profitability for businesses. It provides a platform for leading minds to share their experiences and expertise on the value of an ethics-based approach to deal with today’s challenges in the global markets. It also examines the impact of this approach on the bottom line.
The Symposium on "Ethics in Business – Corporate Culture & Spirituality" is part of the International Business and Leadership Symposium.

This is the fourth Symposium on "Ethics in Business – Corporate Culture & Spirituality", and the second to be held in Europe. This years Symposium is part of the International Business and Leadership Symposium.
This four day Symposium consists of three events and is a Cooperation of the International Association for Human Values, the Europe India Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (ASSOCHAM), the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) and the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO).

The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) has its 35th plenary meeting in Strasbourg on 3-7 December 2007.

GRECO’s objective is to improve the capacity of its members to fight corruption by monitoring their compliance with Council of Europe anti-corruption standards through a dynamic process of mutual evaluation and peer pressure. It helps to identify deficiencies in national anti-corruption policies, prompting the necessary legislative, institutional and practical reforms. GRECO also provides a platform for the sharing of best practice in the prevention and detection of corruption.

The Inter-American Convention against Corruption, the first of its kind, was intended to strengthen governance and reduce corruption across the Americas. The Global Corruption Barometer is a survey that assesses general public attitudes toward and experience of corruption in dozens of countries around the world.

On 9 December the third annual anti-corruption day will take place. The International Day against Corruption is marked every year on 9 December to recognize that we all have a personal responsibility to help end corruption.

From 12 to 14 December 2007 the 7th annual EPAC Conference will take place at the Marina Congress Centre in Helsinki.

Organized by the Finnish Ministry of the Interior the overall topic of this year's EPAC meeting will be "European Challenges in regard to International Developments”. Anti-corruption issues and other malpractice within law enforcement entities and beyond will be addressed within the framework of plenary sessions and working group meetings.
