Transparencia Venezuela calls for unity, peace and respect for the Constitution

Filed under:

Transparencia Venezuela expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives, friends and followers of President Hugo Chávez Frías, who passed away on 5 March. We hope that this moment will inspire unity among all sectors of the country in favour of peace and respect for the democratic channels outlined in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. This will allow the nation to advance in the creation of a free, democratic and transparent Republic.

We hope that the public institutions responsible for the immediate fate of the country will take decisions in a serious manner, calling for fair and impartial presidential elections within 30 days. This is established in Article 233 of our Constitution, which regulates the permanent absence of the president. As we have always done, we will ensure during these elections that transparency will prevail and that all Venezuelans can participate with safety.

We reiterate the importance of continuing to work towards the strengthening of national institutions, as well as respecting plurality and human rights for all the people in Venezuela.

We confirm our commitment and willingness to continue fighting for the consolidation of democratic values based on generating the conditions for transparency and integrity in all sectors in order to achieve the country we wish for.
