priority issues

The Africa and Middle-East Department at TI-S has identified six main priority issues specific to our regional fight against corruption. These are composed of two general priorities as well as four specific priority issue areas. Of high priority in general are the issues of capacity building and the promotion of anti-corruption conventions. Capacity building is, in short, strengthening our chapters and contacts in the region to increase TI’s voice on the fight against corruption. The promotion of international and regional anti-corruption conventions is important as these conventions help to develop a foundation for co-operation and collaboration among different regional actors as well as to create a standard to which all signatories can be held accountable.

Specific priority issue areas include access to information, increasing transparency in public expenditure, working towards a corruption-free judiciary, and combating corruption in the education sector.

To find out more about the programmes and activities designed to support these priorities, please see our projects and activities page.
