Transparency International Delegation, led by Chair, to Meet President of Indonesia

Transparency International Chair Huguette Labelle will lead a high-level delegation to meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on 29 October, 2007.

Members of Transparency International (TI) will present conclusions reached by the organisation’s Annual Membership Meeting, which is being held through 28 October on Bali and brings together TI national chapters from over seventy countries. TI will focus primarily on the recovery of assets looted by corrupt leaders, transparency in the oil and gas industries and implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which Indonesia recently ratified.

The delegation will include: Akere Muna, Vice-Chair of Transparency International, Peter Eigen, Chair of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and Founder of Transparency International, along with Todung Mulya Lubis, Chair of TI Indonesia, Arief T. Surowydjojo, TI Indonesia Supervisory Board and Rizal Malik, Secretary General of TI Indonesia.

The meeting with President Yudhoyono, set to begin at 2.30pm local time, will be immediately followed by a press conference on:
