Mapping illegal logging in Malaysia

Hackathon problem statement
Illegal logging
TI Malaysia recently created a website (timalaysia-forestwatch.org.my) which is used by the public to report possible illegal activities happening in forested areas around the country. It would be good to incorporate a Map of Malaysia on the website and mark the areas that have been reported.

Such a map would provide an overview of the reported hotspots of possible illegal activities. he reported location would be marked on the Map of Malaysia. Clicking on reported areas would prompt an information box to appear, providing pictures and more information on the report. This will make the website more user friendly and interesting. It will also create more attention to the reported areas . The current web site does not currently link a report to the reflected areas on the map.

The indication, or markings of several reports of a particular forested area could induce authorities to give more attention to these areas and take the necessary actions. The target audience for this initiative is the public, i.e. they can participate and interact in Forest Governance and also be the beneficiaries. This enhancement should be a good support to the current website at www.timalaysia-forestwatch.org.my, which has been created for Forest Monitoring and Reporting
