On Corruption Verdicts
This index is designed to answer questions of how the public views corruption verdicts. It is a tool to measure the public perception of corruption verdict fairness nationally, as well as for a country to country comparison. It will enable us to improve the transparency and accountability of judicial institutions.

This index is designed to answer the questions ‘what is the public’s perception of corruption verdicts?’ and ‘are corruption verdicts fair?’

Judicial verdicts in corruption cases are sometimes harsh, but more often very weak. In Indonesia such punishments are often so lenient that the public's sense of justice is undermined. Anti-corruption enforcement law is also ineffective.

The target groups of this initiative are active citizens, anti-corruption activists, journalists, and business people. The main beneficiaries of this initiative would be the public in general, law enforcement agencies, anti-corruption activists, journalists, the media, academics, researchers and universities. They will benefit from having this kind of index and in turn, more accountable courts.
